The Arts at Irymple Secondary College
Arts Co-ordinator: Mr Geoff Symons
The Arts covers a wide range of disciplines, with students able to explore different options at different year levels.
The Arts Subjects Include:
Years 7: Art, Ceramics, Drama and Music
Year 8 elective courses include: Art, Dance, Drama, Exploring Music and Making Music.
Year 9-10 elective courses include: Art, Photography, Ceramics, Printmaking, Media, Music, Dance, Drama and Visual Communication.
The Arts Camp gives Year 9 students the opportunity to travel to Melbourne to be immersed in Arts and Culture. Activities in the past have included circus performance at Circus OZ, making a Live TV show at ACMI, going on gallery tours at the NGV, attending the theatre at the Melbourne Arts Centr and learning street art from Blender Studios.
Each year Irymple Secondary College holds a production to showcase the talents of our performing arts students. This production takes the form of either a 'variety night' style production, or a full play or musical piece. Students from Year 7-10 are involved with all aspects of the production, including performing, creating props, make up, technical assistance and backstage crew.
Every year Irymple Secondary College enters work into these competitions. We have had many winning entries over the years.
