The part of mathematics in which letters and other symbols are used to represent numbers and quantities in quations.*Algebra* is about finding the unknown or it is about putting real life problems into equations and then solving them.

In Algebra, you will see:

(1) Algebracic Expressions: eg. x+y, X-5, etc

(2) Algebracic Equation: eg. x + 3 = 10, x + y = 12, etc

A variable is a symbol that stands for a value. For example, in the expression (x+y), x and y are *variables*.

In an equation: y = x + 3. If the variable x = 4, then y = 7 and so on....
