SSV CROSS-COUNTRY – Melbourne – Thursday 17th July.
Our 2 representatives, Alex Bacon and Jake Barker competed at Bundoora Park Melbourne, in cool, wet and slippery conditions.
The competition is always very tough at this level, but both of our runners performed very
well in their events. Both Alex and Jake ran the 3km events. Jake competed first and finished 59th out of a field of 91, recording a time of 10.44. The winning time was 9:17. While Jake started really well and was with the leaders early, he was significantly hampered by a chest infection and unfortunately he could not sustain this effort due to his difficulty with breathing during the run.
Alex competed next and finished a very creditable 19th position out of a field of 87 with a time of 11:44. She ran very well and was very pleased with her performance. The winning time in her event was 10:02.
Ex-student Sheree Moore also accompanied our team and represented Mildura Senior College. Her time of 11:30 saw her finish 15th overall out of a total of 87. The winning time was 10:16.
Congratulations and well done to our 2 competitors for their efforts in making it to the State final and performing so well. Jake and Alex are pictured below with Sheree following her event.
